Soil and Plant Scientist
- An Accomplished Soil and Plant Scientist possess expertise in conducting research in breeding, physiology, production, yield, and management of crops and agricultural plants or trees, shrubs, and nursery stock, their growth in soils, and control of pests
- Skilled in studying the chemical, physical, biological, and mineralogical composition of soils as they relate to plant or crop growth; classifying and mapping soils, and investigating effects of alternative practices on soil and crop productivity
- Extensive experience of XX years in organizing planting, harvesting, and other agronomic operations in the field or greenhouse; supervising land conservation or reclamation programs for industrial development projects; planning for waste management programs for composting or farming
- Experienced in identifying ways to improve crop yield with less labor, control pests and weeds more safely and effectively; investigating responses of soils to specific management practices to determine the use capabilities of soils and the effects of alternative practices on soil productivity
- Skilled in studying insect distribution or habitat and recommending methods to prevent the importation or spread of injurious species; developing improved measurement techniques, soil conservation methods, soil sampling devices, or related technology
- Instrumental in researching technical requirements or environmental impacts of urban green spaces, such as green roof installations; developing new or improved methods or products for controlling or eliminating weeds, crop diseases, or insect pests
- Deft in conducting experiments investigating soil forms, changes, or interactions with land-based ecosystems or living organisms; conducting research to determine best methods of planting, spraying, cultivating, harvesting, storing, processing, or transporting horticultural products
- Adept in developing new technologies to control or eliminate pests and prevent their spread in ways appropriate to the specific environment; performing research to understand the biological and chemical processes by which crops grow, such as determining the role of a particular gene in plant growth
