Pattern Maker
- Extensive experience of XX years in creating pattern pieces for a particular apparel design; altering the size of pattern pieces to produce garments of various sizes
- Using a computer to outline pattern pieces and draw in details to indicate the position of buttonholes, pleats, and other features
- Converting a designer's garment into a pattern of separate pieces that can be laid out on a length of fabric in a way that minimizes wasted fabric
- Skilled in creating a master pattern for each size within a range of garment sizes, using charts, drafting instruments, computers, and/or grading devices
- Knowledge of pattern making, sewing codes and symbols, different sewing equipment and methods, different fabrics & textiles, body shapes, fashion design techniques, and computer-aided design (CAD) software
